Alula Hut

High on the hillside above Bala, Alula is the sort of place you arrive at and immediately slow down. The valley stretches away beneath you, sometimes hidden under a drifting blanket of mist, other times wide open and sunlit. Either way, the view has a pull - gentle, mesmerising, and easy to get lost in.

Inside, the Shack is calm and unfussy, all warm timber and soft touches that make slow mornings feel effortless. Step onto the decking and the world seems to open a little wider - fresher air, taller skies, and that gentle feeling of being held by the hillside. The sunken outdoor bath feels made for this spot, warm water meeting cool mountain air as you soak and watch the valley lie quiet beneath you.

As night falls, stars start to appear, while the mountains settle into quiet shadow. On the decking, it feels easy to just be - the hills around you, the sky above, and Alula holding the moment, still and calm for you, and maybe your favourite person (dogs welcome too).

High above Bala, Maia rests quietly on the hillside, with the hills of Snowdonia rolling out in soft waves. Adventure waits in every direction - hidden swim spots, wide open trails, and a steaming outdoor bath ready to greet you when you return. The landscape drifts on for miles, mountains folding into each other as the light shifts in gentle, unexpected ways. A view that nudges the imagination awake.

Inside, the shack feels serene. Timber, texture, and the sort of calm that lets mornings stretch without rush. There are books and board games to dive into, and a well-equipped kitchen stocked with the essentials - pots, pans, a mini fridge, olive oil, fresh coffee beans, and loose leaf tea. Step outside and the air greets you with its bright openness. The sunken bath sits right on the edge of it all - warm water, cool breeze, the valley spilling out like it’s telling its own story. As the day winds down, head back in, spark up the fire, and settle in with your favourite person for the best show going: sunset from this little perch on the hillside. Dogs are welcome to join the adventure.
