Stones and Stars

Stones and Stars

Stones & Stars is not your typical glamping site.

Hidden within a reclaimed limestone quarry on the edge of Plymouth, our boutique retreat offers something increasingly rare: a chance to stay somewhere with a genuine story. Surrounded by 14 acres of woodland, wildflower meadows, limestone cliffs and tranquil water, the quarry feels like a secret world tucked away from modern life.

For decades, Radford Quarry lay abandoned. Nature slowly reclaimed the old industrial landscape, creating a unique haven for wildlife. When plans were approved to build 57 houses here, the future of this remarkable place hung in the balance. Instead, the quarry was saved and a new vision emerged – one that would protect its wildlife, celebrate its history, and allow a small number of guests to experience it.

Today, every stay helps fund ongoing conservation work. By choosing Stones & Stars, you're helping restore limestone grasslands, create habitats for wildlife, and preserve a landscape shaped by both nature and history.

Our luxury bell tents and spacious teepees are thoughtfully furnished with antique furniture, comfortable beds and cosy touches. Wake to birdsong, spend afternoons exploring hidden corners of the quarry, watch deer appear at dusk, and gather around the fire beneath a sky full of stars.

Beyond the quarry, beaches, coastal walks, paddleboarding, ancient woodland and Dartmoor adventures are all within easy reach. Yet many guests find their favourite moments happen right here – listening to the wind through the trees, spotting wildlife, and enjoying the peace of a place reclaimed by nature.

This is glamping with purpose. A place where nature comes first, history is all around you, and every visit helps protect something truly special.
