The ones that do tend to have something you can't fake: a sense of place, a bit of character, and hosts who care more about how your stay feels than how it photographs.
This season, three new sites have joined the club. Here's why we think you'll love them.

Tucked away in a peaceful woodland glade in the beautiful Surrey Hills, are two brand-new shepherd’s huts offer a cosy, charming escape from the everyday.
Thoughtfully designed with comfort and little luxuries in mind, each hut has everything you need for a relaxing stay, including a raised double bed, hot-water shower, proper flushing toilet, and a compact kitchen with hob, fridge and freezer.
Wake slowly with a freshly brewed coffee as the morning light gently filters through the trees. Take a quiet stroll through the countryside, discover pretty villages and woodland walks, or simply curl up with a good book and enjoy doing absolutely nothing.
As evening falls, retreat to your cosy little hut, light a candle, pour yourself something lovely and settle in for a peaceful night surrounded by nature. And on clear evenings, step outside, wrap up warm and look up at a sky filled with stars.
Although you’ll feel wonderfully tucked away in your own little woodland haven, everything you need is close by. The picturesque town of Haslemere is just an 8-minute drive away, with independent shops, charming pubs, lovely restaurants and all the amenities you could need.

The Hundred Acre Hut
The Cotswolds
Welcome to The Hundred Acre Hut, a beautifully restored original 1940s railway carriage nestled on our small family farm in the Cotswolds. Thoughtfully transformed into a boutique retreat, it offers a peaceful escape with private outdoor space, countryside walks and access to the fields where our Hundred Acre Honey bees forage.
The Hundred Acre Hut provides a unique off-grid retreat for two in the heart of the Cotswolds. Inside you'll find a comfortable king-size bed, a cosy seating area with a wood-burning stove, a well-equipped kitchenette with a gas hob, oven, grill and fridge, plus a dining table for two.
The private shower room is attached to the outside of the carriage and is accessed via a short step outside, rather than through an internal door. It includes a shower, wash basin and WC.
Step outside to your own private seating and dining area, where you can enjoy far-reaching countryside views, morning coffee, alfresco meals or an evening beneath the stars.
Powered by solar energy, The Hundred Acre Hut offers the chance to slow down and enjoy a simpler pace of life. There is no Wi-Fi, although mobile phone signal is generally good.
Set on our small family farm, guests are welcome to explore the surrounding fields, home to our Hundred Acre Honey bees, and enjoy peaceful walks straight from the doorstep.

Wildbrook Escapes

Tucked away in the peaceful Herefordshire countryside, on the edge of the Malvern Hills, Wildbrook Escapes is our family's little corner of the world – a place we fell in love with long before we dreamed of sharing it with others. As you wind your way through the trees and arrive at Ramsons Retreat, the pace of life immediately slows.
Surrounded by mature woodland, birdsong and the gentle trickle of the brook, it's somewhere to switch off, breathe deeply and reconnect with nature without compromising on comfort.
Wildbrook Escapes was created by us, Michael and Sophie, after years of working in hospitality and creating memorable experiences. Michael spent 15 years in luxury hotels, while Sophie has spent the last decade running her own successful children's performing arts business. Together, we've poured our love of thoughtful hospitality, beautiful spaces and attention to detail into creating a retreat that feels both luxurious and wonderfully relaxed.
The woodland changes beautifully with the seasons. In late winter, delicate snowdrops carpet the forest floor before giving way to the wild garlic (ramsons) that inspired the name of our first retreat. Spring and summer bring lush green canopies, birdsong and dappled sunshine, while autumn transforms the woods into a sea of rich golds and copper tones.
Although you'll feel wonderfully secluded, there's plenty to discover nearby. Spend the day exploring the breathtaking Malvern Hills, wander through charming market towns, visit local farm shops and vineyards, or enjoy a cosy country pub before returning to your private woodland retreat.
With just one beautifully crafted cabin nestled within our family woodland, every stay feels personal. Fresh eggs from our free-range chickens, carefully chosen local touches and a genuine welcome all help make Wildbrook Escapes more than just somewhere to stay. We hope it becomes somewhere you'll want to return to, season after season.
