September: New to the Club!
New to the club: September's newest sites

Every site in the Wanderlust network has been seen, walked and chosen. Most places we visit don't make the cut. The ones that do have a sense of place you can't manufacture, and hosts who care more about how your stay feels than how it looks online.
September brought two new sites into the club. One is tucked into a family farm's woodland on the edge of the National Forest, and the other is a pair of off-grid huts in the Sussex countryside.
Tawny Oak Lodge
Yoxall, on the edge of the National Forest
Some escapes ask you to rough it. Tawny Oak Lodge doesn't. This cabin sits beneath mature woodland on a family farm, along a gentle stream, with a one-acre field all to yourself. There's no Wi-Fi and barely any signal. You'll hear birdsong instead of notifications.
It's made for couples and small families who want the woods without giving up the comforts: a warm shower, a proper kitchen, and a cosy night in. Wander fifteen minutes to Woodmill Farm for craft drinks to sip around the fire and fresh bakes for the morning. Or go one village further to Hoar Cross for a spa afternoon and woodland walks in the Deer Park.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome too.

Shacks East Sussex
Laughton, East Sussex
Ancient hedgerows, chalky Downs, and two off-grid huts built for a slower pace. Shacks East Sussex brings together comfort, sustainability and a good dose of wildlife. Each hut sleeps two and welcomes pets.
Blackthorn Hut is all about easy afternoons. Buzzards circle overhead, rabbits come out as the light fades, and the wood burner waits for cooler evenings. It's simple in the best way: everything you need, and very little you don't.
Hawthorn Hut has the kind of calm that takes a day or two to sink into. Woodpeckers are at work by first light, hares cross the long grass at dusk, and a tawny owl keeps its own hours nearby. The king size bed sits beneath the window, and nothing is asking for your attention.
When you do want to explore, Sussex delivers. There's historic Lewes with its cobbles and castle, and world-class sparkling wine grown just down the road. Glyndebourne's summer opera is close by, and on a clear day the Seven Sisters are well worth the drive.
